One of the unique drinks here is Hoanh Bo sticky rice wine. This wine is made from local unique sticky rice. The local people cook sticky rice, then put into jar for silage. When fermented, they add another fermentation powder made of the leaf taken from Hoang Bo forest, after a while it turns into wine. Then wine is divided into small amount and stored in small jars or vases to drink gradually. They drink just a few cups per meal.
When they have some guests visiting their house, they will bring the whole jar. Hoang Bo soaked rice wine has sweet and sour taste. It stimulates digestion and helps you feel refresh very well, especially in summer. It is not too strong so everyone can drink. But if you drink too much, you can get drunk deeply. It even takes 2-3 days for wwaking up. However, the advantage is that when you’re sober, you won’t have a headache still feel normal and want to drink again next time.
